Ralph Freeman started Ralph Freeman Motors Limited in 1959 as an Imperial Oil / ESSO Retailer. Over the years the business grew and carried several new car franchises such as Volvo, Lada & most recently Suzuki. The Rust Check undercoating and U-Haul Rental franchises were added to the business and have been a helpful factor in allowing Freemans to provide a wide variety of services. As the new car manufacturers changed their ways of thinking, that a successful dealership needed to be in a major center, thus the franchises were revoked. After loosing the Suzuki franchise in 2001, shortly after Ralph's passing, it was decided there was still a need for good reliable vehicles in the area and thus became Freemans Auto Sales, a division of Ralph Freeman Motors Ltd. Scott & Paul Freeman, Ralph's sons who now run the business, decided that they would start into the used car market with a wide variety of lines, allowing a better chance to have vehicles the motoring public were interested in. To this day trends in the changing market are followed and Freemans try to locate and stock vehicles that will best fit the needs of today's customers. If we do not have a vehicle that our customers are looking for we will try to locate and provide that vehicle, no matter what make, model or price range.
Early in 2002 a lot and building were purchased adjacent to the main business at 820 Main Street, Kingston, Nova Scotia. Soon after Freemans Auto Sales opened on this lot at 826 Main Street. We have tried to meet the needs of our customers with stocking and specially locating harder to find vehicles. Word of great deals and outstanding service quickly spread throughout the region. Freemans Auto soon ran out of room for its growing inventory and expanded the parking area that would allow it to continue growing.
It was the summer of 2002 when Freemans Auto opened the doors of its sales lot in the heart of downtown Kingston. The business boasts six service bays, well stocked auto parts suppliers near by, and of course an excellent inventory of pre-owned vehicles. No need to run all over town to find the right vehicle.
